Sustainable corporate governance to protect people and the environment
“The legal provisions for better protection of human beings and the environment in the Swiss Code of Obligations (CO), which the Swiss Parliament adopted in June 2020 as a counter-proposal to the initiative “for responsible companies”, provide for two innovations:
- Firstly, large Swiss companies will be legally obliged to report on the risks of their business activities in the areas of the environment, social issues, employee issues, human rights and the fight against corruption, as well as the measures taken against them, thereby creating transparency (so-called non-financial reporting).
- On the other hand, companies with risks in the sensitive areas of child labor and so-called conflict minerals must comply with special and far-reaching due diligence obligations.
Würth International AG and its top management and administrative bodies prepare an annual report, in particular with regard to the fulfillment of their due diligence obligations in the area of conflict minerals and child labor. Würth International AG is required to publish these reports electronically within six months of the end of the financial year and to make them publicly available for at least ten years.
In the following, Würth International AG complies with this publication obligation and publishes its findings in this regard.
